This cabbie is pleased with his bag of sand!
What would you do if you won a grand prize of £1,000? We find out how one cabbie won just that, with our 2016 competition for London Taxi Drivers.
During 2016 Plan kept note of new and returning black cab policy holders and put them into the hat for our prize draw to win £1,000 – and the winner has been announced as London Cabbie Mr Barry Sweet.
“It came as a surprise, at first I didn’t think it was real because we don’t get phone calls really. I thought, hang on. This sounds funny. But I asked them where they were based, what the address was and thought, hang on! This is real!”
At Plan, we aim to give added benefit with our services, not only by giving gold standard customer service and competitive cover, but also by competitions such as this. We understand how much time cabbies put into their profession, and we value our clients, so enjoy showing appreciation through competitions like this.
It’s tough times for the trade with many having to work longer hours. Barry’s time is particularly precious as he and his wife are full time carers for their severely disabled daughter.
A Sweet Treat
“I’ve been a cabbie for 26 years. This is a massive bonus. My cab’s got 6 years left on it, so after that I may stop. Although at 60 years I feel I’m not old enough to retire!”
Presenting the winner, Barry Sweet with his prize money, Plan Director Grant Georgiades asks what his thoughts were for spending his bag of sand.
“After treating my friends to a couple of drinks I will spend the rest of the money towards updating my Motorcycle which I enjoy riding around Europe.”
During this competition we have announced a total of 15 winners. Cash prizes and fuel vouchers were won by those who took out policies and got quotes with Plan over 2016, and of course the big prize pot of £1,000 was up for grabs too. All prizes were sponsored by Plan’s black cab insurance provider, Tradewise Insurance, who are keen to support the trade.
