Plan visited The London Taxi company on February 22nd to see the taxi manufacturers proudly unveil their Limited Edition TX4 model.
Its two decades since the TX series started being produced. The LTC have produced 300 individually numbered taxis to commemorate its final year. Each model’s number within that range will be displayed on the boot lid as well as on the centre of the dashboard.
The LTC’s intention is to bring “modern touches” to “a design classic.” In a nod to the black cab’s status as a global icon the TX4 LE has a chrome Union Jack emblem displayed behind the radiator grill. At the launch event in the company’s Brewery Road showroom versions in all three available colours were on show. Those colours are “Starlight Black”, “Nightsky Blue” and “Lunar Silver.”
The limited edition models feature the same extras as the Elegance package. They include amongst others; air-conditioning, chrome exterior trim and a DAB radio and with new even stricter penalties for using a phone at the wheel bluetooth hands-free remains a valuable benefit. In addition to the Elegance trim it also comes with rear parking sensors to help you fit into extra tight spaces.
Like the TX 4 Elegance the limited edition version is 73% cleaner than Euro 5 models with an 83% reduction in harmful nitrogen oxides. This means that any model purchased now will remain eligible for licencing for 15 years.
Their website quotes a typical on the road price of £43,495. As usual finance packages are available offering monthly instalments to help spread the cost.
Limited Editions tend to hold their value well due to the collectors’ appetite for rare models. However let us know whether you think the unique features of the TX4 LE are worth the increased price? Would you prefer to opt for a standard TX4 rather than the exclusive version? Or will you skip the TX4 altogether and wait for The LTC’s electric taxi that is due in September?
