We’re extremely proud to be nominated as ‘Best Training Company’ in the 2020 UK Broker Awards. The Plan Group has always strived to provide our team with a thorough knowledge base and to develop their customer-facing skills with the intention of providing our customers with the best possible service experience.
Fingers crossed this is an award we go on to win, but in the meantime, we want to share a little about what makes our company tick and why we are true to our word when we say we want to help establish careers for our young members of staff.
Coming off the back of finishing runner up in a recent ‘Best Insurance Employer’ survey, this nomination highlights our increased investment in our training and development team over the last 2 years. With refreshed internal training programmes for employees entering the industry for the first time and enhanced development plans for existing employees, we’ve attempted to create a perfect environment for individuals who wish to thrive in the insurance sector.
Investment
When introducing a future leadership programme in 2018, we wanted to develop the key skills for employees that would enable them to become effective leaders inside their respective departments, this also included supporting them as they obtained more advanced knowledge of insurance via the Cert CII qualification.
And as Jack Beresford, our Customer Services team leader goes onto elaborate… “The Future Leaders course that I took part in last year has played a big part in helping me progress from a Senior Insurance Advisor to a Team Leader. It has helped me acquire new skills, for example how to organise a team, and improved my verbal skills as I now need to communicate with my colleagues differently than before. It also really helped my confidence, as some of the things we are asked to do on the programme (such as run Team Meetings and carry out 1-1’s), I had never done before.”
We have also set up an Insurance Foundation Scheme where school leavers can apply to complete a 12-month programme inside The Plan Group and ply their skills in all areas of the company, once this period is completed they can be employed by The Plan Group on a full-time basis in a department where they are best suited while studying for the Cert CII FIT exam.
All of this helps the company create a management infrastructure that provides customers with the best experience when dealing with us, whether it be as simple as a new business quote or having to get in touch with our customer service team during their policy period regarding a more complex matter.
Goals
Following the implementation of these programmes, the goals were always clear, we wanted our excellent team to feel valued and to retain their talents within the company, to obtain the Feefo platinum standard rating after being stuck at the gold level for four years and to create a dynamic and upskilled workforce. During the un-invited challenge that has been the COVID-19 pandemic, staff have seamlessly helped other departments in their time of need by offering resource and expertise on a whole host of queries that our customers have needed answers to.
