Plan Insurance Brokers were very proud to co-sponsor The Taxi Driver of the Year Charity Fund’s golf day, held at Hendon Golf Club on Thursday June 8th 2017.
After a tough day of competition on a challenging course, followed by an enjoyable lunch, the winners were announced. The victorious team was captained by The London Taxi Company’s Martin Crouch and somewhat embarrassingly, the individual prize went to Plan’s very own Sales Director Daniel Dove with a score of only 35.
A big thank you to Tony for organising the day on behalf of TDYCF. A great time was had by all.
Unfortunately, nobody was successful in the hole in 1 competition that would have gained them £10,000. (Don’t worry – we had insurance for the prize fund…we’re not silly!)
The Taxi Driver of the Year Charity Fund raises money to help support many worthwhile initiatives that are organised by London’s community of black cab drivers. 5 charitable foundations benefit greatly from their fundraising:
- The London Taxidrivers’ Fund for Underprivileged Children
- Taxi Charity for Military Veterans (Formally known London Taxi Benevolent Association for War Disabled)
- The Albany Taxi Charity Fund for Children with Special Needs
- Southend Fund for Underprivileged Children
- East London Cabbies
The TDYCF is run by Chairman Russell Poluck M.B.E. with support from his wife and the charity’s Secretary Barbara – as well as Vice Chairman Micky Harris.
Their long term ambition is to raise sufficient funding to enable a full day of competition for a Taxi Driver of the Year Award! This would involve treasure hunts across the capital, general knowledge quizzes, tyre changing tests and assault course driving challenges, aiming to establish exactly who London’s outstanding taxi driver is!
Hopefully with the support of the trade and more successful events, their goal will be achieved.
